Attendees of the May 23 Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) at the Culver Theater in Los Angeles will have the opportunity to walk through The Scan Truck, a mobile photogrammetry studio dubbed “a 3D scanning spaceship on wheels.”
Blockbuster films, video games, virtual productions, commercials and more have used The Scan Truck to create high-end 3D assets using hundreds of cameras that create photorealistic models.
The truck offers onsite, portable, self-sufficient, and mobile photogrammetry services anywhere needed.
“The Scan Truck is Hollywood’s premier mobile 3D scanning studio creating hyper realistic avatars and assets for VFX, film and TV, games, virtual production, AR and VR, medical and beyond,” said Jiggs Love, CEO of The Scan Truck. “Utilizing 160 DSLR camera photogrammetry rigs and the latest in laser and structured light tools the possibilities are endless, bringing the physical to digital. The Scan Truck employs a team of modelers and texture artists to produce the ideal models for clients, whether they’re generated from 3D scanned data or newly invented models from concept alone. The service also offers a team of game engine specialists to help get assets game engine ready.
Marvel has used The Scan Truck for Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Black Widow, while other major Hollywood studios have employed it for everything from Amsterdam to Dune to Terminator: Dark Fate.
The annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event is the industry’s largest gathering of media and entertainment’s CIOs and top technology minds, bringing together the IT, data, and security communities of the industry.
Held as a “hybrid” in-person and virtual event, those not in Los Angeles can attend via Zoom or the MESAverse, MESA’s virtual work environment for its members and communities to watch live presentations, network, and step on the stage to share opinions.
